I'd like to believe that the 11th of Sept would just disappear. But I know it cant and its unreasonable to think so. Its just that I get really sad when today rolls around or any day that I use my credit card. It expires 09/11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously!
Im just going to imagine it doesnt exist...just like the engineers do.

Hoy
Today is a hard day for me. No need to delve too much into it but I wanted to share a dear friend's notable quote "Everything is a teaching moment." I want her to know that we love and support her dearly. :)
On a lighter and a more fitting note. A while back a bunch of us gathered at RFK Stadium for a DC United game. Seems like every year, the amount of children that are present doubles, making the event distinctly different than 2 years ago ..wild dancing, singing at the top of our lungs, bottles strewn about. This year, the focus? A mini soccer game between an adult and 5 or so children under the age of 7. One in particular is the subject of this post. She is a gem. As she and I walked ahead of the group towards the tunnel, she showed me some of her ballet positions. I smiled relished her small hand in mine. After the game, we walked ahead of the group still excited about DC United's win, screaming the game chant. Then she looked up at me and said "Miss Candice..Today was the perfect day." My heart welled up and all I could muster was a smile. I was all choked up. I felt like I'd witnessed a miracle of sorts. Such a young mind who hasn't experienced as much as I have, could simply say "Today was the perfect day" and mean it with her whole being. It was so refreshing. She'll get older a probably forget how much her words touched me that day.
But, I will never forget that moment.
So today is a hard day but I know my perfect day will come again and so will hers.

Nuestro compromiso
After the phone calls. After the well wishes. After it all, he and I lay staring upwards towards our future. The feeling is familiar but more intense. We share knowing smiles and frequent phone calls to one another as a pinch to remind us that this is a dream come true. I have never felt more loved and cherished. I have never felt so passionate about someone. This side of Sunday, our lives are going to sing a grand song. It will pulse through us, carrying us through it all. I can't wait!
The engagement itself was lovely. Held in the most romantic restaurant I could ever imagine. Already, I picture anniversary after anniversary seated in the last table on the left, in the corner, in between both windows. The single red rose. The "pan fried fish." The moment. The tears. The yes.
I am so thrilled to be here on this side of Sunday. Thank you all for your support and prayers. Yay!
